Dreaming of crossing the Ocean in a regatta even if you are over 40 and not a professional sailor is possible. Dreaming of doing it in a real regatta, the Transquadra, against French sailors? Why not, that’s what these two Italians, the only ones in the race, Alessandro Moretti and Francesco Lambri, aboard Arterix, a Bongo 9.60, will do.
Two legs, the first from Marseille to Madeira, the second to Martinique, totaling 3,000 miles. Their goal? Getting boat and crew safely to the other side of the Ocean, but doing it while having fun and racing. We met them at the Genoa Boat Show, and their story can be an inspiration to those who dream but have not yet decided to take the plunge.
