It is possible, if you decide to join the Alternative Sailing Community, a true community of globetrotting sailors (or rather, “sea gypsies” as they like to call themselves) whose basic philosophy is the concept of “sustainable travel.”

These guys are currently sailing in the Pacific in Fiji. Their goal is to teach boating to all those who “mount aboard” by doing the boat-stop but more importantly to promote a different culture of going to sea: many of these sailors are also street performers and have set up a traveling circus. They also have a boat that is a walking tattoo studio and aim to expand the community with boat-restaurants, boats for so-called fair-trade and so on.
