slide_7As there we told a few days ago, at the VELAFestival there will be many world and national premieres from leading boatyards, such as the new Mylius 76 FD, the big news in the Vismara house, the V56, not to mention the dinghies to which we will devote a separate space, to a total of 160 boats already involved. Indeed, the best of the shipbuilding industry has chosen to exhibit the season’s most significant new products in Santa Margherita. But our intention to embrace the entire sailing world has led us, with two months to go, to have a very important number on our hands, witnessing the great participation in this fourth edition of VELAFestival: are in fact already 140 boats tra#plasticfantastic, registered for the VELA Cup and berths booked who will participate live in the four-day festival in Santa Margherita.

We’ve had fun cross-referencing the more than 100 models we’ve involved so far, and we’re telling you what’s simmering in the pot to make you a little bit jealous:

– The ranking of shipyards by number of140 models present at the VELAFestival sees the French shipyard leading the pack. Dufour with as many as twelve models, strong in its historical presence in Italy evidenced by the participation of such mythical hulls as theArpége and the Sortilege; the La Rochelle construction site is closely followed by the Pardo Shipyard and by Comar who with nine participating hulls each put their Italian signature on the event. In a tied third position we find the Barberis shipyard with no less than three
Show 29
, the legendary shipyard
Alpa
which despite no longer producing hulls for years is strong in its great history and is well represented by such iconic hulls as theAlpa 11.50 and theAlpa Brise. Also well attended were Beneteau, Bavaria, Hallberg Rassy (including the very large Gianin VI, the 1976 HR 41 winner of the last Giraglia and the Rasmuss 35 ketch) and Jeanneau. Obviously all historical shipyards strong in their history in the sailing world.

– Other curiosities among “our” boats: the largest you will see on the dock is the stunning 27.43-meter yacht Spirit of Tradition Whitefin followed by the Reichel&Pugh 80 Oudream with its 24 meters, just ahead of the Moor of Venice which measures just over 20, the smallest on the other hand the Laser No Comment long 4.06 m and who will participate in the VELA Cup against the giants, while triumphing three the “old” the wonderful 1970 Swan 37 Sparkman&Stephens Tikka III.
