The TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year is done…in thirteen (and it starts in a month!)

We anticipated that the TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year, this year, would be adapted to the context and “expanded”: after 78,000 of your votes on our website velistadellellanno.giornaledellavela.com, which decreed the 10 finalists (here find out who they are), it is time to find out in detail what will happen now. Or rather, in exactly one month’s time, when the 2020 edition will go live in smart working mode. And we are sure that it will be, just as it has been since 1991, a memorable Sailor of the Year. MAY 26 – THE INTRODUCTORY EPISODE
It will start on Tuesday, May 26, with a big introductory episode in which we will tell you on video, on all our channels (website, youtube, Facebook, Instagram) everything you need to know about the TAG Heuer 2020 Sailor of the Year. Who got the most votes in the first stages, what the prizes are, how the jury will choose the winners: we will do this with well-known sports journalist Mino Taveri, with our “wingman” Bacci Del Buono, Sailing Newspaper editor Luca Oriani and a TAG Heuer representative.

MAY 27-JUNE 5 – INTERVIEWS WITH THE 10 FINALISTS
From May 27 to June 5 we will air (again on all our platforms) meetings with the 10 finalist candidates, one per day. It will be a way to learn in detail about their beautiful stories of sea and sailing: the protagonists themselves will tell you about them, interviewed by Mino Taveri and Bacci Del Buono. And they will also do so with spectacular photos and videos.

JUNE 6 – THE EVENING OF CHAMPIONS
On Saturday, June 6, at 9 p.m., the Evening of Champions will be staged, hosted by Mino Taveri and Bacci Del Buono. Only then will you find out who will be the TAG Heuer 2020 Sailor of the Year and the winners of all the other awards (TAG Heuer Young, Innovation, Performance, #don’tcrackunderpressure, and the special Tribute and TAG Heuer Passion awards: the Most Voted nominee, i.e., the most voted by the public, is already known. It is Andrea Barbera). They will all be connected, and all we will be doing is replicating, online, what we have been doing physically for years. It will be an unforgettable Evening of Champions.

JUNE 7 – THE “AFTER-VELIST”
But it didn’t end there. On Sunday, June 7, in the afternoon, just like all the top awards, we have planned an “after-festival” space where, live on our social platforms, we will connect with all the winners of the Sailor of the Year. Winners with whom you can interact live and ask questions without qualms. The atmosphere will be relaxed and trust us, you will not miss having a laugh together with the great protagonists of Italian sailing.

Calendar in hand, thirteen appointments not to be missed (mica we are superstitious!). Stay stafe & tuned, we will soon reveal the interview schedule in detail and how to follow us!
