What a spot for kite surfing! Former U.S. President Barack Obama is among the 1.5 million practitioners in the world of the board that flies on water propelled by a kite.
The occasion was a vacation on the beautiful island of Moskito, one of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean owned by tycoon Richard Branson, owner of various businesses under the Virgin brand. The Obama kiter story is tasty.
OBAMA HAS A TRACK RECORD AS A THOROUGHBRED SURFER

Branson challenged Obama, who rides the board the longest distance? He won Obama who had previous sailing surfing experience in his past when he lived in Hawaii in his youth. “He was doing quite well,” says a local surfer, “then he got into politics and dropped out. Too bad because he could have become a number one.” Branson thus wrote in a post, “One of the first stories Barack told me when he and Michelle arrived on Moskito Island was about the time, just before he became president, he had been surfing in Hawaii,” Branson wrote. “After returning to shore following an exhilarating session, the new security chief turned to him and said, ‘This will be the last time she will surf for eight years.’ For the next eight years, he did not have the opportunity to surf, play water sports, or do many of the things he loved.”
