Chains of other anchorages, reefs, submerged peaks? You will no longer have to fear them when you give again. There is a device, Anchor Rescue, which will come to your aid in the event of a captive anchor.

HOW ANCHOR RESCUE WORKS IN SIX POINTS
1. The slider (slider) and chain (tether) remain on the anchor at all times. Under normal conditions, the slider “rests” near the anchor attachment point and the chain connects the slider to the anchor dimenate. Thus positioned chain and slider do not interfere in normal anchoring operations.

2. When the anchor remains captive, a sinking shuttle (retriever) initially attached to the anchor chain at the bow is lowered via a line to the slider.

3. When the shuttle reaches the slider, it attaches to the slider, forming one piece.

4.
Once shuttle and slider are connected, you will have to give chain, The latter will loosen and tension will be transferred to the top connected to the shuttle/cursor. As this rises, the chain connected to the slider/navette begins to apply a pulling force on the anchor diamond.

5. Continuing to retrieve the selvedge connected to the shuttle, the anchor that had lifted from the spindle in the first place now lifts from the diamond, freeing itself from the interlock.

6. Once the anchor is free of obstruction, the shuttle is retrieved to the surface and the anchor is hoisted as if nothing had happened.

WHAT TO KNOW
The complete system is sold online starting at $229, it can aiurt you in many situations except for the one where something obstructs the chain at the bottom: in this cso the shuttle cannot reach the slider. The device can also work with adjustable fluke anchors, such as the Danforth or Fortress, but it needs substantial modifications to the chain connecting the diamond and the slider, and often further modifications are required to the anchor itself. The manufacturers themselves do not recommend the system coupled with these types of anchors. www.anchorrescue.com
