It is one of the most anticipated boats at the upcoming boat shows and will make its world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival (Sept. 10-15). We finally see her in the first picture under sail, and curiosity can only grow, we are talking about the new Grand Soleil 42 LC.

After returning to the world of sports cars with the Grand Soleil 48 (Read HERE), and the debut in the world of maci with the GS 80 (Read HERE), it is time for Cantiere del Pardo to return to smaller sizes and, above all, to retrace a path that has been very successful in recent seasons, that of the LC, Long Cruise. In fact, the Italian shipyard with this range has interpreted the world of long-range cruising in an original way, making very comfortable and convenient boats but entrusting the project to a designer specialized in fast boats such as Marco Lostuzzi. The result is a decidedly successful mix, where good sailing goes well with the volumes of a boat for living. And for this reason the return to the LC range with a new model, this time the smallest of those produced so far, was highly anticipated.

The Grand Soleil 42 Long Cruise is the latest model in the Blue Water range dedicated to long-range cruising from Cantiere del Pardo. Comfort, large spaces on board, and autonomy in navigation are the hallmarks of this new twelve-meter hull, designed by Marco Lostuzzi in collaboration with Nauta Design and the technical department of Cantiere del Pardo. Like its big brother 52 LC, the the 42 LC will be available in two versions, one with the classic rollbar to have the deck as free and livable as possible and a sportier version without rollbar and without aft benches.

The hull of the GS 42 LC ensures on the one hand high form stability thanks to generous volumes, and on the other hand high levels of performance guaranteed by a well-proportioned sail plan.
Like its larger siblings in the Long Cruise range, the 42 LC is designed to offer maximumcomfort and luxurious living on board. All maneuvering is deferred below deck to the helmsman’s station, characterized in the standard version by two benches inside which creates a natural storage space. The two winches on each side (electric as an option) positioned near the two rudder wheels make long sailings easy and enjoyable, even with a small crew. Maneuvering is also simplified by the furling mainsail in the mast and the self-tacking jib with recessed rail.
The carbon rollbar frees the large cockpit from clutter, leaving room for areas of complete relaxation, and also serves as support for the bimini and sprayhood.
The deck design then features flush-mounted portholes, a carbon dolphin locker for rigging gennaker or Code 0 and where the integrated anchor support is also located, an underdeck recessed furling, and an opening aft swim platform. Not to be forgotten are the wide walkways that allow agile movement aboard from the stern to the bow, where there is room for an additional relaxation area with a sundeck positioned between the mast and the end of the deckhouse.

THE SPORT VERSION

Like its 52-foot big brother, the GS 42 LC is also available in a sport version without a roll cage and without the helmsman’s benches. This layout includes a few variations in the boat’s rigging and rigging: the mainsail sheet point is fixed in the cockpit, rails are provided to rig a genoa at 106%, the mast is oversized with rod rigging (instead of spiroidal as in the standard version) , and the backstay is hydraulic.

THE INTERIOR.

Regarding the interior layout, two versions, a two-cabin and a three-cabin version (both configurations include two bathrooms with shower stalls) will be available to meet the needs of owners as much as possible. The living room provides on the right a three-seat sofa of which the middle one can become a chart table. Lacucina L-shaped kitchen is equipped with a capacious refrigerator and an optional second and ample storage space.
