It is called IC 36 and is a catamaran with a philosophy somewhere between sport sailing and cruising. The brand, Independent Catamarans, offers this entry level with interesting concepts. A lightweight, all-net bow boat with adjustable vertical servos, but with a cruising-style maneuvering setup. A hardtop is provided in the cockpit to improve guest comfort, and the helms will be tiller-mounted instead. The special feature of this boat is also that it is Green from an energy point of view. No fossil fuels will be burned. Propulsion is from Oceanvolt and also includes a hydro-generator. Powerful Solbian solar panels will then provide sufficient reserve power stored through a bank of lithium marine batteries.
But the special features of this cat do not end there. Car or container transport around the world makes the IC36 a unique solution for a multihull of this size. No more time-consuming or potentially dangerous delivery trips, this cat is in fact relatively easy to assimilate and eases possible transportation options by no small margin.
