Combining the lines of boats of yesteryear, those elegant New England gems that made yachting history, with modern lines and materials-that’s the idea behind of the Contemporary Classic 41 (a name that gives a good idea), the new model under construction at the Alto Adriatico Shipyard in Monfalcone.
At 12.37 meters long and 3.85 meters wide, it is striking on deck for its extremely sheltered cockpit, where the original (when compared with U.S.-made models) two rudder wheels stand out. Four winches on either side of the cockpit make maneuvering safe in all weather conditions. Interesting is the choice to place the furling reel on the dolphin deck, so as to clear the bow completely, making it suitable for relaxation, also because there is no sunbathing space in the stern, compared to the boats we are used to.
While the concept of this boat is due to project manager Luigi De Cesco, the naval engineering comes from a top pen on the Italian scene, that of Marco Lostuzzi. A guarantee in terms of hull performance, as demonstrated by his Sly Yachts and the recent Grand Soleil 46 LC. Strip planking with external carbon lamination was chosen for the construction technology.
The layout of the interior offers generous spaces (customizable to the owner’s specific requests), with classic maritime-style furnishings, rich tientibene (lately a bit undervalued by shipyards) and the total absence of corners. Everything refers to the New England style, with alternating matte white painted wood and natural wood.
