Corsair Pulse 600 and Brenta 80 DC, these are the two boats that won the Boat of the Year awards given by our friends at Sailing and Motor. Let’s take a look at the special features of these two models.
CORSAIR PULSE 600
The Pulse 600 is a trimaran that allows the side hulls to be closed with simple operations, thus containing the maximum footprint when transporting, mooring, hauling, and potentially sailing in protected waters during landfall phases. The efficiency of the hull plan also allows the use of a small outboard with great operating economies and further expansion of the boat’s versatility of use. Striking then is a small deckhouse that can be disassembled and customized in color, allowing the boat to be outfitted with a protected storage compartment below deck or, conversely, to allow for a sportier performance-oriented configuration. The carbon-ring frame construction under the mast foot and at the bow transom attachment allows for streamlining of the fabrication achieving lightness to the whole and providing accessibility to the protected space.
BRENTA 80 DC
The latest model to come out of Studio Brenta’s pencil for the Michael Schmidt Yachtbau (indeed, for Mr. Schmidt himself) has certainly not gone unnoticed. A four-million-euro jewel (the color, light teal, recalls that of a Vespa owned in Schmidt’s youth) designed by Lorenzo Argento, who called in none other than David Chipperfield, an archistar with a longtime passion for sailing, for the interiors. The 24-meter (maximum beam 6 m) has a large central cockpit in a deck structured on three levels; the aft cockpit provides access to the comfortable amateur cabin. Interior furnishings are classy, with signatures of the caliber of Franco Albini and Luigi Caccia Dominioni. A comfortable boat wanted by a lifelong boat builder.
