We often find ourselves taking stock of what has been, of the new things we have just seen at the shows or on the docks. Today we are changing the game. We sat down at the editorial desk and tried to imagine, data and experience in hand, what might change in the boating world in the next twelve months. Thus was born a small vademecum in ten words: from A for Alliances to R for Reputation. After the first four installments (links are at the bottom of the article), today we are talking about Easy Sailing.
EASY SAILING
Not a new concept, you say? You are right, but never before has the quantum leap been realized. Did the self-tacking jib or electric winches already seem so much to you? Look at the AST system developed by Harken and Jeanneau, capable of automatically adjusting sails and letting go on its own in case of excessive heeling.
Easier than that… Purists will turn up, many already do, their noses, but this is the near future and it is time to get used to it and take all the advantages possible. It is true that crew sailing is beautiful, but it is also true that always finding someone willing to go with you is difficult….
