We had previewed it HERE, but now a new ICE 60 has seen the water and it’s a boat in a version we might call “special.” First of all, this is the RS version of the project, a declination in the racer sense of the already very fast ICE 60, which winks at owners looking for an important boat suitable for both fast, super-comfortable cruising and even demanding regattas .
Derived from the powerful lines of the standard ICE 60, with a mix of content taken from 62′ and 82′, manages to enhance the characteristics of robustness, marinity and performance that distinguish the site. What’s more, it has interiors with several innovative features. Telling us about these innovations in interior design is the person who conceived the project, namely Umberto Felci.
“The line of the ICE60s by their nature semi-custom, allowed for such customization of the interior that the layout of the first example was disrupted. After Joy’s launch, the construction of a second specimen, whose interior is truly innovative, began,” Felci began.
“The all-carbon hull accommodates a very open environment inside, the gaze as soon as you descend the ladders runs free from the center salon to the owner’s cabin, with no visual obstructions. The study of the environment was done respecting precise symmetries, in fact the arrangement of the sofas is frontal and each sofa has a dedicated coffee table, which can be transformed into a dining table. This choice leaves free the wide central passage leading to the kitchen area separated from the living area only by the two narrow structural uprights. Here, too, symmetry is well respected, two equipped cabinets facing each other and a workbench in the center, designed as an island that leaves excellent room for movement around it, particularly in what is the transition from the living area to the owner’s sleeping area. Contributing to the idea of a large open space is the clean lines of the furniture elements, which maintain a strict order in every detail. In fact, the minimalist furniture is meant to enhance the importance of the elements shaped in harmony and integration with the hull without distraction from other superfluous objects,” the designer explains.
But it is also the exposed carbon in the interior and the unconventional colorations that make these interiors distinctive. ” Each piece of furniture is made from molds and features rounded edges that soften their bold lines . The materials and colors chosen give a strong personal touch to this vessel. First of all, the carbon left exposed on the doors of the high side doors that run almost seamlessly along the entire side, which is joined by a light wood essence for the low cabinets and side tables; then the fabrics of the sofas for which an anthracite gray was chosen. Colors then neutral ready to support and accommodate, acid green, a strong contrasting color also used in some panels at the hull sides. In the background bordering the owner’s area is a large carbon bulkhead with a futuristic hexagonal cut to highlight the pattern of unidirectional carbon fiber reinforcements running along the edges of this “void.” The flush door, leads into a comfortable area where the separate shower, enclosed by an exposed crystal glass, gives breadth to the entrance and allows for greater appreciation of the spacious cabin with particularly capacious closets. Materials and colors in continuity with the living room except for the acid green that is left to characterize only the living area,” Felci continues.
Attention to the little ones details in such a project is what makes the difference. “To obscure the cabins, which all have portholes with direct light, rigid sliding panels were designed, again with the basic idea of not burdening the boat with additional accessories, but of harmonizing furnishings and details to the hull, which is thus not just container, but part of the furnishings themselves. When we talk about details we mean a range of accouterments, such as matching furniture in corners, edges and recesses, rather than the choice of handles, bathroom accessory faucets, latches, hinges all in perfect concert with the interior design choices made. The deck layout, made of carbon, respects the design rigor of the entire boat, all covered in teak, carbon mast and boom, and deckhouse with large windows to provide pleasant light inside. The hull is acid green, a gritty choice that is perfectly harmonious with the other few neutral colors also found on deck,” Felci concludes.
