Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for the second leg of the VELA Cup. In beautiful Sicily, in front of the Aeolian Islands which are only a few miles away, the TAG Heuer Vela Cup in Capo d’Orlando is staged on Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20. Early summer is the sweetest and most charming time for the island, the weather is perfect and it is not yet besieged by August tourism.
The location is perfect, the Capo D’Orlando Marina is uniquely situated within walking distance of the delightful town and lovely beaches. The Marina offers foreign boats, which come from “outside” free mooring. An excellent idea is to take advantage of Capo D’Orlando as a base for a visit, at a less crowded time, the Aeolian Islands. The Sicilian coast is not to be outdone, Cefalù is only a few miles away! The regatta takes place on a fascinating coastal course and lasts no more than four hours.
