Velafestival for young people
Bring your children to the VELAFestival, they certainly won’t be bored: for them daily workshops on seafaring aboard the schooner Pandora and recycling education with the Medplastic and Outdoor Portofino teams. And at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 3, meet at Outdoor Portofino’s booth: it’s off to the beach to hunt for trash and plastic!
EVERY DAY.
So we saved Santa
Did you know that until a few months ago, the area occupied by the TAG Heuer VELAFestival was a pile of rubble? Together with institutions and witnesses of the tsunami that brought Tigullio to its knees, we will tell you about the rebirth of Santa Margherita with photos and videos. We decided to open the TAG Heuer VELAFestival with the event “This is how we saved Santa Margherita.” Santa Mayor Paolo Donadoni will be in attendance.
THURSDAY, MAY 2, 5 p.m.
Try sailing with the Caprera Sailing Center
Caprera Sailing Center makes a stop at the VELAFestival and brings one of the brand new Beneteau First 27s from its fleet of boats. You can try it out in the water with qualified CVC instructors. At the Medplastic booth you will find course info on the Mediterranean’s leading sailing school.
EVERY DAY.
Medplastic by the sea
The “stand at sea” of Medplastic, the nonprofit association created by the Giornale della Vela to safeguard the Mediterranean, is Matteo Miceli’s legendary Eco40, the first and only total zero-impact boat. Matthew, featured speaker at the Friday, May 3, “We’re All Eco-Sailers” meeting (5 p.m.), will be happy to host you on board and reveal all the tricks to sailing “eco.”
EVERY DAY.
Challenges Mauro Pelaschier at VELA Cup
Be aware that Mauro Pelaschier, the legendary helmsman of Azzurra at the 1983 America’s Cup, will not only be among the protagonists along with Miceli at the Friday, May 3 (5 p.m.) meeting, “We are all Eco-sailors”: you can find him next to your boat at the VELA Cup! In fact, he will be aboard YCCS Commodore Riccardo Bonadeo’s Rrose Selavy!
FRIDAY, MAY 3, 5 P.M. AND SATURDAY, MAY 4, 11 A.M.
The Festival of “debutants”
There are many accessories for your boat officially debuting at TAG Heuer VELAFestival: like the folding winch crank developed by the Italians at easy sea! Discover it in the “bazaar” at the quayside!
EVERY DAY.
