Among the places that the whole world envies us is definitely theMaddalena Archipelago. In the middle of the Straits of Bonifacio, a unique landscape of small islands with white beaches and crystal clear waters explodes. A mythical place for sailors, a true paradise for the sport of sailing, always caressed by the wind. But for many, it is also a taboo: the Straits of Binifacio often instill a bit of fear because of the often starring mistral and the “traffic” of boats slaloming between the endless islets.
What opportunity then to experience thethrill of sailing in this paradise in total safety thanks to the in-water assistance of the VELA Cup Summer – Formenton Trophy organization? You will be able to enjoy carefree, together with your family and in total relaxation this wonderful course among these islets of granitic nature. Spargi, Budelli, Razzoli, Spargiotto, Barrettini, Mortorio and Nibani., Lavezzi: if you are cruising nearby, but why not, even if you are not just around the corner, we assure you that you better extend your cruise to Porto Rafael.
The fun will be guaranteed: meet everyone on Friday, August 19, in Porto Rafael. From 4:30 p.m. until 6 p.m. Friday you can register for the regatta or finalize your registration. At 7 p.m. then there will be room for the skipper meeting where the race course for the following day will be presented and the starting procedures will be laid out. If there are no particular issues related to weather and sea conditions, the route should be as follows: departure from Porto Rafael, Barrettini leaving the island of La Maddalena to starboard.
From Barrettini one sails between Budelli to Spargi until leaving Spargiotto to the left, and then goes to turn first the buoy placed near Punta Paganetto and then the one in Porto Pollo Bay, usually frequented by dozens of colorful and very fast windsurfers and kitesurfers. From Porto Pollo we head for the island of Spargi, leaving the meda of Cala Corsara to starboard to finally arrive back at Porto Rafael after about 21 miles
On Saturday, August 20, on the other hand, the water rendezvous for the start countdown is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
