With the flavor of the vacations still alive, September is the month when we sailors have the hardest time catching up with the daily routine, still hungry for sailing, sun sea and wind. Then, September 24, there will be the right opportunity to continue celebrating at sea together with sailing friends. The VELA Cup joins forces with the legendary Mariperman Trophy to bring to the Golfo dei Poeti (La Spezia) its spirit of a regatta/sailing event open to all types of boats, even those without a tonnage certificate. Different race courses and routes, from coastal to tack-on- tack battle between buoys. Exactly in the spirit of the VELA Cup: with the goal of bringing together on the same patch of water everyone’s passion for sailing, from cruising boats with the sprayhood always up and the self-tacking jib to vintage jewels with gleaming brass, from the latest generation of racing bolides with the antifouling freshly put on, to Latin sails with their retro spirit.

ALL TOGETHER PASSIONATELY
In the magnificent setting of the Golfo dei Poeti, between Portovenere and the castle of Lerici, the different race courses will be positioned on Saturday, September 24: cruising boats without tonnage certificate (VELA Cup), vintage hulls, boats with ORC certificate, monotypes such as 5.50, J24 and Meteor (Mariperman Trophy) will fill the gulf for a great party. We look forward to seeing you in the charming marina of Le Grazie (SP) as early as the evening of Friday, September 23: on Saturday everyone will be on the water for the races (the VELA Cup will take place only on Saturday while the Mariperman Trophy will continue on Sunday).

EVERYONE CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE SAILING FESTIVAL
A one-of-a-kind event in the ideal spirit of the VELA Cup: this is the Mariperman Trophy taking place Sept. 23-25 in Le Grazie in the Gulf of LaSpezia. Cruising boats or boats without a rating certificate will participate in the VELA Cup with real-time finishes and prizes for all with class divisions based on boat length. Then there will be the vintage boats that will race under the AIVE rules, the lateen sails, and finally the ORC-stabilized boats. But not only that, the Trophy is also open to one-design boats such as 5.50s, J24s and Meteors.

SATURDAY THE BIG PARTY
At one of the Gulf’s most envied marinas, Le Grazie, on Saturday night there will be the big party for all regatta participants and more: you can eat on the beach, listen to music, and then get wild with the big party with breathtaking views of the Gulf. Depending on the type of your boat, you can register only for the VELA Cup on Saturday, September 24, or for the Mariperman Trophy races. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SAIL CUP – MARIPERMAN TROPHY.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE.
All boats from 7 meters and up can participate even without a tonnage certificate. One participates with gennaker or spinnaker in the racing category, with white sails in the cruising category. Each category is then divided into classes according to the overall length of the boat. Instead, boats with ORC rating certificates; J24, 5.50 and Meteo monotypes; vintage boats according to AIVE regulations; and lateen sails may participate in the Mariperman Trophy. AWARDS FOR ALMOST EVERYONE. There are prizes for almost everyone. In fact, prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each class and category, as well as many special prizes.
