TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year: 1 month to the Evening of Champions, find out how to follow interviews with finalists

Exactly one month to go until the big Serata dei Campioni (Evening of Champions) on May 12 in the heart of Milan, the final act of the TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year, which will award the “Oscars” of Italian sailing. That event will feature the three finalists in the categories Sailor of the Year, Young, Owner, Designer and Yacht Club, who were selected by the public during the online poll. From these, the Journal of Sailing’s Quality Jury will choose the winners in each category to whom a TAG Heuer Aquaracer will go.

Prior to that event, we will introduce you to all the finalists on the web, with a series of interviews that will be posted on the Journal of Sailing’s YouTube and on all our social media starting May 6. Sports journalist Mino Taveri led the games with an exceptional sidekick, Oceanic sailor Ambrogio Beccaria, with the collaboration of our own Mauro Giuffrè.

– 06/05 to 11/05: KNOW THE FINALISTS.

Video interviews on social media and on our website with the past Sailor of the Year winners, the 3 finalists in each category of the 2022 edition, the Most Voted and announcement of the Epic Sailor of the Year award. It begins on May 6 with the announcement of the Epic Sailor of the Year awarded to Azzurra, and the presentation of the partners who accompanied the Sailing Newspaper in this edition of the Sailor of the Year.

On May 7 it will be time for interviews with the finalists in the Yacht Club by Seably category, namely Centro Velico Caprera, Circolo della Vela Sicilia and Circolo della Vela Bellano. On the 8th it will be the turn of the finalists in the Young category, Maggie Pescetto, Mattia Cesana and Alex De Murtas. On the 9th will be the turn of the finalists in the Designer by SkS category, namely Northern Light Composites, Stefano Lillia and Maurizio Cossutti. On the 10th it will be the turn of Owners Enzo De Blasio, Gennaro Coretti and Luca Sabiu. Instead, May11 will be dedicated to TAG Heuer’s Sailor of the Year finalists, Tita-Banti, Alberto Riva and Francesco Sena, who is also the Most Voted winner.

Sailor of the Year

It is the most prestigious award in Italian sailing, awarded by the Giornale della Vela since 1991 and now in its 31st edition. In 2022 it will be staged from February 25 to May 12, with the Evening of Champions, the final event, scheduled at the Signature Kitchen Suite showroom in the heart of Milan on Via Manzoni. The 2021 Sailor of the Year was won by Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team.
