Comanche, the 100-foot Atlantic crossing record holder. It is considered the fastest monohull in the world.

The Rolex Sydney to Hobart never fails, and again this year it was, and is, a race full of twists and turns. The line of honor, however, went to the eve’s super-favorite, the 100-foot super maxi Comanche, which is very simply confirmed as the fastest boat for big offshore trials, especially when sailing a lot at wide gaits. The boat of Jim Cooney finished with a time of 1 day 18 hours 30 minutes and 24 seconds. Behind Comanche is the other maxi 100, Info Track, and third is the great rival Wild Oats XI.

The real battle now turns to the overall victory, which we recall is awarded to the IRC overall standings. At the moment it all seems to be an internal affair among the TP 52s in the fleet, who all occupy the hot spots in the rankings. Provisional first place is Ichi Ban by Matt Allen, second place is Gweilo by Matt Donald & Chris Townsend, and in provisional third place is Envy Scooters by Barry Cuneo. Will it remain just a struggle between Tp 52 or will the inclusion of a few small ones come? It is unlikely to happen since the weather conditions on arrival in Hobart at the moment remain quite windy.
