During the Rolex Swan Cup which is taking place this week in Porto Cervo, a “Private” dinner for Swan Sparkman&Stephens owners only. A party within a party attended by 219 owners, crews and family members of owners, the pass to enter was only one: own a Sparkman&Stephens Swan.
The dinner was held at the Hivaoa restaurant where 25 S&S Swans were represented, 23 of which were racing in the Rolex Swan Cup: these 23 boats, from 38 to 65 feet, have a separate start at sea from the other hulls and featured the highly anticipated Swan 38 Mascalzone Latino by Vincenzo Onorato which was refitted by rigging carbon mast and boom and 3di sails. During the first race of the regatta Mascalzone Latino was first in real time for much of the course, ahead of even the 65-footers who started with him. Quite a success for this boat, which according to the account of some witnesses “walks like a rocket.” Good participation from foreign boats as well: two American-flagged Swan 47 S&S, Belgian owners as well as 4 boats that arrived especially from England to participate in the Rolex Swan Cup. And now we wait until the end of the regattas to get all the results.
