Never before has the offer of charter boats in the Mediterranean and the choices in models and trip destinations been as advantageous and wide-ranging as they are this year. Suffice it to say that in the Mare Nostrum basin today there are more than 2,500 sailboats up to 18 meters that are for hire. Of these then, more than 70 percent are new boats, that is, boats that are at most two years old. Renting one for one’s vacation therefore means being guaranteed reliability like never before. Not to mention that because they are modern, state-of-the-art vessels, they are able to give cruise passengers a level of habitability and comfort on board that simply did not exist before. In addition, the development, indeed the real boom, in catamaran rentals has created a viable and strong alternative to the more classic sailboat rental. For the same length, in fact, the multihull offers space and comfort especially on deck that are inimitable and priceless. Those who then do not have great skills or desire to personally put themselves in charge of the boat they choose today without any problem can “hire” an experienced skipper who will ensure maximum relaxation. Similarly, the market for luxury boats (those over 18 meters) has also expanded and prices have become more affordable.
CHOOSE A RELIABLE OPERATOR
As always, however, a key element in charter research is the reliability of the operator. And that is precisely why in these following pages we have chosen for you and rounded up the best operators. In short, as they say, trusting is good but it is especially better to rely on serious companies that have been in the market for a long time and are able to give quality service and a solid guarantee of reliability. As usual finally, however, one last piece of advice cannot be missed for those who are looking forward to a boat cruise. If it is possible for you, choose to cast off your moorings at a time when it is not the peak season (the middle two weeks of August, to be clear). In fact, by doing so you will enjoy great freedom in the marinas and above all you will often be alone in the most beautiful bays.
