Little wind and uncertain weather in Portofino, but the spectacle of the Spring Regattas , organized by the Yacht Club Italiano, does not stop. Today, unfortunately, the committee decided to cancel the regattas scheduled for the third day, as had already happened for the first day, Friday’s. Yesterday, however, despite the gloomy day, there were optimal conditions for the boats to have fun and enjoy themselves.
Twin Soul B leading the way
Saturday 23 saw Morgana, the new 100-foot Southern Wind with the likes of Torben Grael and Ganga Bruni on crew , win the day’s regatta in real time. However, compensated time returned a different winner, Twin Soul B, Luciano Gandini ‘s Mylus 80 that welcomed Tommaso Chieffi aboard for this weekend of racing. A short distance away is another boat from the Piacenza shipyard, Oscar 3, 65-foot owner’s Aldo Parisotto. Closing out the podium in the compensated time ranking is. Itacentodue, Ice 61 of Adriano Calvini, who does not miss a regatta of the Italian Yacht Club. Just off the podium is the Manticore as they close out the ranking Jecalu and Morgana.
Spring Regattas come to a close tomorrow
After yesterday’s two laps, with a distance covered of more than 40 miles, no trials were held today due to unfortunate weather conditions. All postponed until tomorrow, then, hoping that the weather-as everyone hopes-will allow for a beautiful end to the long weekend of racing in the spectacular Tigullio Gulf. Spectacular, despite the rain, the traditional Bonfire of St. George which on the evening of Saturday 23 warmed up the Portofino marina and the several people who came to the piazzetta for the occasion.
How to follow the last day of racing
The last day of the regattas, organized byYacht Club Italiano, Comune di Portofino, International Maxi Association and Rolex as Official Timepiece will be followed thanks to live TV, which will be available for streaming on the digital platforms of the YCI
