Sea Master comes to Velafestival: a sailing course from La Spezia to Santa Margherita Ligure

Just over two months to the fourth edition of the “sailing festival,” VELAFestival, and we present this interesting initiative conceived by the organizers of Sea Master: an event that combines a sailing course with our Ligurian event in May.
The skipper and curator of the course will be Maurizio Vettorato, an experienced minist and navigator who has already been the protagonist of the two VELAFestival Barcolana events.
The “Navigare Sicuri” course will depart from La Spezia on Friday morning, May 6, with a 4/5 hour coastal sailing to Santa Margherita. The following day, Saturday, May 7, there will be a morning outing in preparation for the

which will take place in the early afternoon.
In the evening award ceremony and big party with all the crews. How does that sound? It looks like a good program to us…
During the “Navigare Sicuri” course, all topics will be covered that will enable the attendee to learn what it takes to deal with safe boating. Boat preparation, gaits, mooring and anchoring, and more: maneuvering on deck/board equipment/mandatory documents (general organization of the boat before setting out on a cruise); instrument panel, Gps and autopilot, Vhf, general onboard electronics; exit planning (preparing maneuvers for exit); motoring/unmooring out of port; rigging mainsail and jib – hoisting sails (heading into the wind, maneuvers to prepare, trim in various wind conditions); sailing (skills at the helm, sail trim, gaits and comfort); mooring and buoy catching; preparing the boat in bad weather; managing a crew; safety and equipment (fire extinguishers/booms/jackets etc); pre-boarding meeting; the engine: how to perform inspections and maintenance/battery service; navigation, sail maneuvering, mainsail and jib reefing adjustments, anchor maneuvering.

Overnight stay: On board the course boats.
The boats: Bavaria 40, Oceanis 40 and Pogo 40.
Master’s Level: Ideal for those who have notions of sailing, just got their license or plan to get one. To cruise the boat with serenity and peace of mind.
Cost: From euro 399 including educational materials (Sailing Newspaper Subscription, notebook, DVD) and diploma.
Embarkation: Embarkation and Disembarkation Fezzano (SP) by Friday morning 6/5, disembarkation 8/5.
