The new Maxi Dolphin MD62ab is on its way to the sea. In an exceptional transport, the new MD62ab, the latest creation of the Maxi Dolphin shipyard, a comfortable cruiser and powerful racer as Luca Botter, ceo of MD Technologies, a company that has been running the shipyard founded in 1986 since 2016, called it, left today for Varazze, Italy. Designed by Argentine Alejandro Bottino, the Maxi Dolphin MD62ab is the result of close collaboration between the yard’s technical department led by Giovanni Pizzatti and a designer, who is extremely rigorous and precise.
Aspects that are in the DNA of Maxi Dolphin, which has always made boats that are exclusive in terms of materials, construction technologies, design, attention to detail and customization capabilities. Measuring 18.80 meters long and 5.40 meters wide, the MD62ab is constructed of carbon-epoxy fiber sandwich lay-up, vacuum laminated with Corecell core and post-fired at 60° C in the shipyard’s 40-meter furnace.
A refined construction that contained the displacement to 22 tons with 8.5 tons of ballast in the keel. The deck is entirely clear with the rigging running under the deck to the maneuvering cockpit with two wheelhouses. Mast and boom are made of carbon. The sail area (mainsail plus self-tacking jib) is 210 square meters, the gennaker 275 square meters.
The large guest cockpit leads to the interior, which the owner of the first MD62ab wanted with a large open space with living, navigator’s station, lounging area, and galley. Forward of the living room is the owner’s area; aft are two double guest cabins. A series of rooms illuminated by long windows and top windows in the deckhouse, eight hatches on deck, and windows on the broadside.
The arrival of the new Maxi Dolphin MD62ab in Varazze, where the vessel will be keel mounted and rigged and where sea trails will take place before delivery to theSouth American owner, is scheduled for Monday, September 7.
