Sailor.tex, innovation in the service of boating
“The ‘Sailor.Tex Sailing Charter Company’ brand,” Ceo and founder Matteo Italo Ratti tells us, “will turn 20 years old in 2023. Since its inception, the fleet has been renewed several times, reaching 20 units. We then made real estate investments in ports but also in other brands.
Last is the “YachtIngBond” chain of stores with nautical, yachting, sports and casual clothing. And in 2022 the spin-off “Homes” with boat furnishings will open. Or in the “Marinas Consulting” brand that deals with design and management of ports and marinas where we are among the Italian leaders.
From 2021, we also have an important charter innovation, the “North Tirrenian Charter Base” format that was born in Marina Cala de’ Medici during the pandemic. The charter market has changed a lot in the last 5 years, and charter boats are expected to increase significantly. Thus, we propose fleet management programs for both individuals and other brands that want to optimize boarding and disembarkation costs and processes.
The industry is going in this direction, and we are ready: major Italian charter companies with more than 80 boats from monohulls to catamarans are based in Cala de’ Medici. Meanwhile, summer bookings are starting, interest is growing. We opted to maintain prices despite the increase in VAT from 11 percent to 22 percent.
The market is expanding to a generalist tourist clientele-we have changed our management approach to respond to a customer who is not a boating enthusiast, but a sportsman who wants to try a different vacation. We will also soon open a location in Milan with our new format, but it is a surprise we will launch for our 20th birthday.
Sailor.tex
– Strategic base perfect for summer
Meanwhile, our main port of embarkation remains Marina Cala de’ Medici, south of Livorno, gateway to the Tuscan Archipelago. We are ideal base for charter clients because we are in the middle of all the islands but also close to northern Italy. This saves 2 hours of driving on Fridays to spend at sea and not in the queue. Those who rent a boat do so to go to sea and not stand in traffic.
To this strength we add another, which is assistance: the staff is very well trained and hired. This is something not to be underestimated because in-depth knowledge, professionalism and expertise are essential in this work.
Our 20 years of experience has enabled us to establish a system of mutual knowledge and cooperation with many artisans in all destinations-which is essential for giving assistance to clients. Finally, we are part as a port of the Marine Della Toscana Consortium in which we have shared projects for the development of charter fleet embarkation hubs.”
