Safer environments: air healthiness according to Frigomar

In these recent months when more and more attention is being paid to health, especially in light of the recent tragic events around the world, Frigomar, which has always been at the forefront of marine air conditioning, is once again proving to be in step with the times.

In fact, the Italian company recently presented a air sterilization kit dedicated to some of its flagship products: the “SCU” series, i.e., compact variable frequency (inverter) machines for air conditioning in the marine environment; a series of products so innovative and appreciated for their negligible consumption who already in 2019 boasted the prestigious title of “Product Of The Year” awarded by the BMEEA. (British Marine Electrical & Electronics Association).

At Frigomar, they did not settle, and thanks to a focus on satisfying the most demanding customers and a natural inclination to anticipate market trends, has developed with its technical department a specially designed solution for the Indoor air sanitation, as boat interiors typically are.
The solution in question perfectly combines what have proven to be the cornerstones of Frigomar-made products in recent years: compactness, lightness, reliability, energy efficiency, and ease of installation, use and maintenance in order to pursue the satisfaction and happiness of owners and installers.
Frigomar’s proposed kit, which can be purchased as an option for the SCU series, consists of high-quality ultraviolet (UVA/UVC) lamps for air purification. Ultraviolet germicidal technology is a scientific, efficient and cost-effective method useful in reducing any transmissible agents, bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms in the air in order to maintain healthier and healthier environments.
This option does not increase the already very small footprint of the compact air conditioner, proving to be suitable even for machines in the “SCU” series that are already on board and should currently be without it.

But how does this system work?
And how does it integrate with the compact car?

First, air is drawn in through a washable filter which retains the dust macroparticles, passes through the finned pack of the heat exchange coil which brings it to the temperature set by the user, then it is treated by ultraviolet lamps resulting in the abatement of pathogens, is then sucked in by the built-in fan to the air conditioner and finally channeled and fed back into the room, sanitized and at the desired temperature.

Specifically, each kit consists of consumption-minimizing LED technology lamps, which are less than 1W, firmly attached to a replacement support plate than the one normally placed to protect the heat exchange coil, on the upper side of each compact “SCU.”
The steps required to successfully install these kits are really within everyone’s reach: You unscrew the Torx screws that secure the original plate, replace the plate with the new one in the kit, screw the Torx screws back in, and connect the power supply for the ultraviolet LEDs to the dedicated free connector with which each machine is equipped.
Installation time? Less than 10 minutes.
The LED UVA/UVC kit dedicated to the “SCU” series is available in two versions to fit 7-10,000BTU/h and 12-16,000BTU/h machines, respectively, and can be purchased from all Frigomar dealers.

Benefits

  • Improvement of indoor air quality.
  • Low power consumption due to LED technology (<1W).
  • Maintenance of original overall dimensions.
  • Affordable installation.
  • Suitable for new installations and retrofits.
