Ended in Santa Margherita Ligure the Rolex MBA’s Conference & Regatta, the challenge between the world’s most prestigious business schools organized by the Yacht Club Italiano and SDA Bocconi Sailing Club with the partnership of Rolex.
BIG TUSSLE AT SEA
Yesterday on the final day the first seven finishers from the Beneteau First 36.7 Fleet (MIT Sloan School of Management, SDA Bocconi School of Management, HKUST Business School, London Business School, Rotterdam School of Management, IMD, IE Business School) and the first place finisher from the Sun Fast 37 Fleet (Sauder School of Business) were selected to compete in fleet trials on First 7.5 boats (one-design boats 7.49 meters long and 2.54 wide, with a crew of 4) according to a semifinal and final pattern. Racing began after 11 a.m. in a 3-knot wind. Crews from SDA Bocconi School of Management, IMD, IE and MIT Sloan School of Management, the first-place finishers in their respective semifinals, faced each other in a four-way final. Coming out on top was the MIT Sloan School of Management winning the 2015 Rolex MBA’s Conference & Regatta.
This is the final ranking of the top four crews:
1. MIT Sloan School of Management (United States)
2. SDA Bocconi School of Management (Italy)
3. IMD (Switzerland)
4. IE Business School (Spain)
In Division B, a regatta reserved for boats that include former students who attended business schools in past years, won the Bella Storia boat carried by a crew from the SDA Bocconi School of Management (Italy), second Pepita with a crew of former students from various universities on board, and third Petit Chou from the Sauder School of Business (Canada).
