Eh no guys, even in sailing no. The bad news comes straight from CONI: Roberta Caputo, the athlete selected for Rio 2016 in the women’s 470 class (along with Alice Sinno), was found positive for the substance Clostebol Metabolita following an “out-of-competition” check – ordered by NADO ITALY – carried out in Naples on July 6, 2016. Clostebol Metabolita is a cortisone substance with anabolic action (usually used in creams to heal abrasions or wounds): a steroid, therefore. A mistake of naiveté?
FAREWELL RIO
The First Section of the National Anti-Doping Tribunal proceeded to suspend the athlete as a precautionary measure, granting the petition proposed by the Anti-Doping Prosecutor’s Office. Roberta Caputo will not take part in the Olympic Games. Taking her place in the 470 class, along with Alice Sinno, will be Elena Berta.
WHO IS ROBERTA CAPUTO
Born in Naples in 1992, coxswain, Roberta Caputo was in her first Olympic participation. After achieving brilliant results at the youth level-Caputo won a 420 World title-she started sailing on the 470 with Sinno, (under the colors of CC Aniene) at the end of 2013.
