It is once again Marc Lombard who signs the new RM970 model, which thus fills the gap present between the RM890 (which you can see on the dock at VELAFestival, in Santa Margherita Ligure May 5-8) and RM1070. Like the French shipyard’s other hulls, it will be built of marine plywood and epoxy resin. But characterizing it could only be its hull with an accentuated edge; indeed, extreme: you can see it clearly in the rendering above: the edge runs seamlessly the entire length of the hull and is designed to carry the boat up to a certain angle of heel, on which it then leans and “sails on rails.”
As has been the case with other Fora Marine models, this one is ten and a half meters (overall length is 10.65 meters, but waterline length is 9.65) Will be offered in versions with a single and double keel rudder blade or with a deeper keel and two blades (Needless to say, the latter is the one most expected in the Mediterranean market.
On deck, the design (always angular, in keeping with the shipyard’s tradition) of the deckhouse accommodates a large front window; the structure is visually lighter and less aggressive than those to which Fora Marine has accustomed us in recent years, but sufficiently pronounced to properly protect the cockpit, where we find the tiller rudder (a choice that goes against the grain of what the market is accustoming us to).
The interior provides a standard classic layout, with a double cabin forward and one aft on the port side, while on the starboard side we find the only bathroom, followed by a large technical compartment. In the square, space for the L-shaped kitchen and center table with fold-down tops, as well as the chart area.
Expected in the water next fall, it should have a starting price around 120,000 euros.

X-Yachts owners, unite: there’s a regatta just for you (even Classic!).
In 1979 a shipyard was born that was destined to carve its name in the history of yachting: it was X-Yachts, of which the legendary X-79 became the standard-bearer. An excellent first design, signed Jeppesen, the small 7.9-meter would be
