Elan broadens its horizons in the fast-cruiser segment with the launch this fall of the new Elan GT5 (GT stands for Gran Turismo, the name of the new range that aims to combine performance, easy sailing and elegance), a 40-footer signed as always by the pencil of Rob Humphreys. We caught a preview of some renderings of the boat.
OCEANIC SOLUTIONS
It will feature an oceanic-style double rudder blade and “T” keel, characterized by a very low center of gravity so as to increase righting moment without affecting displacement and friction too much. There will also be no shortage of “edge” starting from the stern designed to improve directional stability (as well as increase internal volumes and beam).
EASY SAILING
The boat was designed with the idea of being steered by a small crew, so it is easily handled by two, with sheets and halyards deferred to the helmsman’s station and a cockpit clear of lines. A clean deck ensures quick and safe passage to the bow, as well as providing ample sunbathing space, complete with dedicated cushions in the bow. With an aft platform that doubles as a swim platform, the option of a cockpit galley complete with fridge and grill, and other conveniences typical of larger boats, the GT5 is also made for hanging out with family and friends, offering ample seating space and different cockpit table solutions
INTERIOR… INVERTED
The space below deck is very unique: in the saloon, the galley is arranged forward of the sofas. The raised deck saloon ensures bright and livable spaces that are ventilated and feature a height of more than 2 meters. www.adriaship.it
