This is it, the Barcolana officially goes into full swing and we are there.

boothOur guests who joined the “Come with us to the Barcolana” initiative are coming to our booth (by the way, if you are in Trieste come visit us!) and this evening they will board the four available boats: a Salona 44, with skipper the ocean sailor Matteo Miceli, a Dufour 445 captained by the expert Simone Gesi, a First 50 at the controls of Maurizio Vettorato and a Sintesi 45, skippered by Giango Tadini (2014 ORC Italian Champion). There is no shortage of Clovis, the 26-meter that will serve as TAG Heuer’s hospitality boat.

THERE WILL BE SWEAT…
In the meantime, it does not promise to be an easy regatta. As early as tonight, the dreaded bora is expected, and precisely for this reason the night races in the San Giusto basin scheduled for Saturday have been brought forward to tonight (DHL trophies reserved for Este 24 and Ufo 22).Tomorrow will stage, weather permitting, the Barcolana Classic while the Barcolana proper will start on Sunday. There are 1,200 registered boats, slightly more than half of last year’s number: blame the weather forecast. There is no Esimit Europa II, so this year’s regatta will have a new king. Lots of favorites: Roberto Tomasini Grinover’s Maxi 72 Robertissima, Maxi Jena, Marino Quaiat’s RC44 Illyteca second by a hair last year, Pendragon and many others…

A BIG ABSENTEE AMONG THE EXTREME
Meanwhile, the Extreme 40 are already putting on a show just a few meters from the docks and Piazza Unità d’Italia. A big absentee, Musandam Oman Sail. The Extreme is off Croatia to lend a hand in the search for a member of the sultanate’s team, Mohammed Al Awani (26), who fell overboard two days ago from the Omani MOD70 (also expected – in vain – at the Julian stractadina) and has yet to be found. Apparently, he was not wearing a life jacket, but the dynamics will be clarified in the future: certain is that the boat, once the search is over, will be placed under impoundment and a fact-finding investigation will be launched.
