Named Zen, it is completely Made in Italy and is a newly designed dinghy designed for quick and easy sailing (and ready to challenge an ancient seafaring superstition, judging by the green color of the hull).
BOXY BY CHOICE
Built by the Checchi shipyard in Massarosa, Lucca, based on a design by the Viareggio-based firm PGYD, Zen is characterized by taut, bold geometries-a choice of both design, as the entire boat is constructed of marine plywood panels and epoxy resin, and function. In fact, the double-edged conformation with a flat bottom and the width of 1.60 m make it stable while still performing well. The edge position and volume distribution, with the maximum beam at the extreme stern and the full sections at the bow, allow safe sailing even when gliding, reducing the risk of overhang and overhang or overhang.
FLUSH COVER.
The deck is a single flush deck surface that allows “freestyle” handling and amplifies the feeling of space on board, despite Zen being only 4 meters long. Just enough to have a large aft area lined with a special soft EVA covering, perfect for moving around while sailing and for use as a sunbathing area by one or two people (the dinghy was also created to meet the needs of a quiet sea outing while sailing comfortably).
WELCOME CODE ZERO
The rigging includes a 7-meter square-top mainsail Windsurfing-inspired frameworks and a code zero type sail; a solution designed to sail calmly upwind and then double the sail area at carrying gaits; the choice of the particular headsail instead of a gennaker allows sailing with tighter angles and especially being able to move even in extremely light wind conditions. The self-supporting composite shaft is divisible into three parts for easy transportation. The hull weight of 74kg allows loading on the roof of the ‘car. www.checchiyachts.it
