NEW BOATING LICENSE QUIZZES TO TAKE EFFECT IN 90 DAYS
The new boat license quizzes and updated charting problems will go into effect in 90 days. This is the standard technical time that must pass from the publication in the Official Gazette on 12/02/2022 of the Executive Decree containing the Quizzes (number 10 of 25/01/2022). Three months then to study the new applications. In the meantime, in order to ensure continuity in the way the examination for boating licenses is conducted, the transitional regime is applied, that is, examinations will continue for these three months with the old applications. (as governed by Circular No. 29636 of October 13, 2021)
WHAT CHANGES IN THE NEW QUIZZES AND THE BOATING LICENSE EXAM
We have already told you about here all the news related to the examination mode and the content of the new quizzes, which, as pointed out in the release of Confindustria Nautica, “draw a modern knowledge set, less focused on theoretical knowledge and more on practical navigation“. The new questions are “supported by graphic images” and focus on “mooring and unmooring operations, how to deal with waves in bad weather sailing, maneuvering, navigating crowded bays, and entering and leaving ports“.
There will also be “questions on non-mandatory but recommended safety equipment and environmental protection and navigation in Marine Protected Areas.” Quizzes on engines have been updated but most importantly “removed many outdated questions or nomenclatures that are in disuse in boating.” In the Sailing section “questions on sails that have become commonplace on cruising boats and questions devoted to sailing in bad weather were introduced”
