Choosing a mooring often requires constant checking of the weather forecast, with the need to cross-reference and compare forecasts for various times of the day to figure out which anchorages will be safest and most sheltered, a tiresome but necessary task.
As of today, Navily, the start-up used by more than 120,000 boaters, offers the ability to find all information in a single platform through an automated scoring algorithm based on comparing weather forecasts and anchorage protection information.

HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS
The system basically analyzes and displays data calculated in three-hour intervals and studies information such as wind angle and strength and wave direction and height. The result is a score that evolves with the weather situation, thus making it possible in a short time to figure out which anchors will provide the safest shelters.
Users will also have the option of saving port and anchorage information on their phones so that they can consult and view it even at sea, where access to an Internet connection is often impossible. Offline mode can also be very useful abroad to reduce data consumption on cell phones.
This premium offer is available on iOS and Android by subscribing for 9.99 euros per year. Of course, the core of the application will remain free and accessible to all.
“This new service is in line with Navily’s philosophy of simplifying boating. The implementation of our assessment algorithm on anchorage protection represents an important evolution within the services we want to offer boaters. This is a project that we have been working on for three years and it allows us to take a big step forward in aiding boating,” commented Edouard Fiess, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Navily.
