My Song, here’s what’s left of the world’s most beautiful sailboat

These are photos of what’s left of the superyacht My Song as soon as it arrived in Palma de Mallorca (Balearics): Pierluigi Loro Piana’s 40-meter (130-foot) Baltic suffered heavy damage after it was tossed off the Peters & May company’s “Brattingsborg” freighter in the Gulf of Lion last week.
First listed as missing after visual contact was lost from the freighter, he was eventually spotted and recovered. The causes are yet to be ascertained, the most plausible hypothesis the failure of the reservoir on which the boat was fixed.
The CEO of Baltic Yachts (the shipyard has its own factory in Palma) said he was “ready to provide any assistance required.” What will happen to the My Song, what was considered by many to be the most beautiful sailboat in the world, is still unknown. Will it live again? Will it be demolished? It promises to be a long “tug-of-war” between shipowner, shipping company, insurance companies.
