For 52 years, Harken has been equipping sailboats around the world, and now it pulls the first sunscreen designed by sailors for sailors out of the hat. Harken Derm provides total UV protection (its sun protection factor, SPF, is 50), resists water and splashes, and is environmentally friendly because it uses no environmentally polluting and skin-damaging chemicals such as oxybenzone.
Instead, it takes advantage of mineral substances such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as a “shield,” as well as botanically derived active antioxidants (extracts of Apple, sunflower, rosemary and argan oil).
Harken Derm 50 High Performance Sunscreen is the brainchild of the wife of the founder of the historic U.S. company Peter, Edit Olasz, an influential associate professor of dermatology with a long history of research in the treatment of skin cancers. So rest assured: by applying this cream before going out on the boat you will be safe.
In addition to the cream, there is also the moisturizing and antioxidant (as well as anti-aging) after-sun lotion, also totally natural with extracts of apple, dates, avocado, olive, orange, lavender and more.
Sunscreen and after-sun cream cost 39.50 euros per bottle.
