The taste of timeless sailing was on display at the 14th Monaco Classic Week, a unique event in the classic boat gathering scene, as it brought together the best of classic sailing and motorboats. 130 hulls were present at this year’s iconic event, divided almost equally between sail and power hulls.
It is a striking sight to see some of the world’s finest yachts on the water at the same time at Port Hercule in Monaco, classic powerboats alongside Marconi sloops, not to mention an entire fleet of 12-footers, Olympic class in 1920, and the full range of metric classes. This year’s event had a “stars and stripes” tone, as one of the themes of the event was the celebration of American-Monegasque friendship.
On the water of course racing as well, the victory in the Marconi category went to Cippino II, in the Epoch Auric won Viola, among the Big Elena of London, Resolute Salmon won among the Classic Marconi, Mecara won in the 6 M.S.I, Mirabelle in the 8 M, Franch Kiss in the 12 M, Mariska in the 15 M, and Canarino Feroce among the dinghies.
