By jibes the Mini Transat fleet is sailing in the intense flow of the “Nortada,” the north wind that runs along the coast of Portugal, and the news is that leading the fleet among the Series is Ambrogio Beccaria on Geomag .
The Italian skipper passed Cape Finisterre in the lead and, shortly thereafter, decided to gybe ashore. A choice of placement in the wind, probably dictated by the fact that the flow from the north is more intense below the coast.

A gybe that had momentarily cost him the first position, but Ambrose then recovered some 20 miles in 24 hours, by the way clocking a partial of 274 miles traveled, and returning to the head of the fleet.

To get the measure of its performance, suffice it to say that in front of its bow is only the first of the prototypes. Now Geomag has gybed in phase with the northeast rotation of the wind and is sailing south at over 12 knots, 520 miles from the Las Palmas finish line. Also among the series Luigi Dubini is 43rd, Marco Buonanni 49th, Daniele Nanni 54th, Alessio Campriani 57th.
Good news also from the prototype class, where an excellent Matteo Sericano on the 888 holds out in the top 10, seventh at this time, but accusing a 105-mile delay from leader François Jambou. In 20th position Luca Rosetti.
