Meet the world Paralympic sailing champions at the Milan Aquarium

Tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 7, the Civic Aquarium in Milan
(a must-see gem of Art Nouveau architecture, for those who don’t know it!) will be talking about sailing. Starting at 4:30 p.m. you can meet Paralympic sailors Fabrizio Olmi and Davide Di Maria, gold medal winners aboard the RS Venture class at the Para World Sailing Championships in Spain.

Milan’s Civic Aquarium is a jewel of Art Nouveau architecture

Through the extraordinary images of Spanish photographer Miguel A. Paez (like the one above) and World Sailing footage, the athletes of the Italian national team will tell the story of their experience at the World Cup in Cadiz. A hard-fought, comeback victory, achieved over Canadians John McRoberts and Scott, silver, and Britain’s Will Street and Jonathan Currell, bronze.

The event (organized by Associazione Raggiungere Onlus & ASD Disvela, in collaboration with Italian Naval League sez. Milan and Garda Salò Rowing Society) is free and open to all, and Fabrizio and Davide will be happy to answer your questions!


Forty-nine years old, a graphic designer from Milan, he is a seven-time Italian 2.4MR Class Champion and represented Italy at the Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Paralympic Games. Since 2011, after qualifying as an IVF Sailing Instructor, he has been teaching sailing courses with a focus on people with disabilities. Co-founder and Vice-President ASD DISVELA in Lovere on Lake Iseo.

Eighteen years old, from Milan, a student at Milan’s Liceo Artistico Umberto Boccioni high school with a dream in his drawer to become a Nautical Designer. A sailor in the RS VENTURE, 2.4MR, and HANSA 303 classes, his racing career began at Canottieri Garda Salò (a club of which he is still a standard bearer) when he was 15 years old, with the constant goal of improving.

This is the program for the day:
4:30 p.m. – Reception of guests
16:45 – Moderator introduces the World Champions with a brief presentation of the athletes
4:50 p.m. – Playback of the GOLD MEDAL film, with a montage of race highlights, footage from World Sailing
4:55 p.m. – Fabrizio & Davide tell anecdotes and special moments of their experience at the Cadiz World Championship, including through the extraordinary images of Spanish photographer Miguel A. Paez
17.45 – Questions from the audience
6 p.m. – We move to the conservatory for refreshments and a toast
