The parabola to Guadalupe has begun: for about 48 hours Vittorio and Nico Malingri aboard Feel Good have been entering a zone of little wind, widely predicted. It was for this very reason that the Old Man and the Dwarf had taken as far south as the wind allowed, sailing lean-tos so that they could now, in the lighter air, have a narrower angle to the wind, hemmed in and fast on the approach toward Guadalupe. Everything as planned, even the gradually shrinking lead over the time of Frenchmen Yves Moreau and Benoit Lequin, who completed the crossing in 11 days, 11 hours, 25 minutes and 42 seconds in 2007 .
THE CONNECTION WITH MALINGERS FROM ABOARD
Currently Feel Good has a lead of about 100 miles when there are about 450 miles to go, a margin that has gradually thinned over the past 48 hours but may still be enough to bring home the record. The next 24 hours are crucial, and despite the advancing fatigue, the Malingrians will be forced to push Feel Good even harder on every wave and every gust.
