Max Sirena had said, “It is likely that we will launch a prototype as well. He had told us this in a lengthy interview (read it HERE), and here seems to be confirmation coming these days. A few photos on Luna Rossa‘s social pages, some details of a boat, and immediately fans’ fantasies fly and interest grows. Will it be the new AC 75? Many are wondering, many think so. We actually believe absolutely not.

The photos are intentionally taken with close-ups, zooms on some details, which therefore do not let you see the whole boat. One detail, however, makes us think that this is not the AC75 but a scale boat, a forklift in short: the photo of the rudder. Despite the zoomed-in photo the proportion does not look like that of a 75-footer at all, too narrow the stern, we might even venture that this is a boat just over 7 meters.

We may be wrong, but in our opinion this is a scale prototype. With the simulator work phase over, Luna Rossa is preparing to go on the water with a prototype made at a very advanced stage of study, which will likely serve to provide feedback to finalize Boat 1, which is expected to be at an advanced stage of construction. Speaking of boat 1: just before the photos in question Luna Rossa posted a video where they tell about the arrival of a large mast, what indeed will be the mast of the future AC 75 given its size.

Also glimpsed is the U-shape intended for double mainsail use.

In pure America’s Cup style so Luna Rossa is holding on to its secrets and building up anticipation. But the beauty of the America’s Cup is also this.
