20 years of cult regattas, Les Voiles de Saint Tropez blows out its 20 candles and does so in its own way, with another spectacular edition of this legendary regatta. For those unfamiliar with it, Les Voiles brings together in the French Riviera town the best of yesterday’s sailboats of today: from classic sailing queens to modern Wallys or Swans, via the various rating cassi. The entire sailing world is represented, in gripping coastal races (stick racing for some classes), often painted white by the strong Mistral.
This year among the Wallys, 77 Lyra came out on top, leaving behind the two Wally 100s, Galateia and Magic Carpet. Among modern boats of note in IRC 3 was the victory of Luciano Gandini’s Mylius 80 Twin Soul B, second place for the Mylius 50 Daguet 2 in IRC B.
