Lagoon is showing at the Dusseldorf show (Jan. 23-31) with two aces up its sleeve, the Lagoon 42 and the 450 S.
LAKE 42
Born from the pencil of French studio Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), while retaining the main features of the Bordeaux shipyard’s latest generation of catamarans, the Lagoon 42 opens up new horizons. This is revealed by the elegant silhouette characterized by flowing curves that, thanks to the acceleration of the lines perceptible in the beams and in the new design of the deckhouse, emphasize the dynamic and sporty character (without losing the maritime and “family boat” purpose) of this model. The hull is made with infusion and injection molding, the hull is gull-wing, and the forestay gear, mooring anchor, and Code 0 tangon can be connected to the center keel. It is 12.80 m long and 7.70 m wide.
COMFORTABLE SOLUTIONS
On deck, the far-rear mast and self-tacking jib offer the possibility of grouping all rigging in one place on the vessel, which benefits ease of handling in a small crew. The ergonomic wheelhouse, placed at the level of the deckhouse closure, ensures that direct communication with the cockpit and the saloon occurs, and there is direct access to the deckhouse for easy access to the boom. The bimini is composite with sliding panel to ensure maximum visibility on the sails. The cockpit, characterized by “soft” lines, is on one level from the rear platform to the saloon. A large window across the entire width of the deckhouse allows a connection of interior volumes.
INTERIOR MADE IN ITALY
The interiors are made in Italy, in fact they were designed by Nauta studio: two versions are available, with 3 or 4 double cabins. In the three-cabin version, the master stateroom is in the port hull: king-size bed, central area/study, and forward bathroom with separate shower stall. To starboard two doubles each with its own bathroom with shower. In the four-cabin version (great for charter), the configuration of the two hulls is mirrored. The U-shaped galley in the saloon, equipped with large work surfaces and numerous compartments, faces the outside cockpit.
LAGOON 450 S
The other new addition is the Lagoon 450 S. This new model comes to complete the new SporTop line designed by Lagoon. Envisioned from the Lagoon 450 with flybridge, it allows closer proximity between the wheelhouse and cockpit. Again, the project is a collaboration between VPLP and Nauta. The hull is made by infusion casting-a significant gain in weight (crucial for a catamaran) and optimization of structure. Interior furnishings are made of Alpi reclaimed wood to promote durability (you can choose light blond or teak finishes). The rigging is lowered compared to the FlyBridge version, but the boat maintains the same sail plan area: this results in even less pitching. It is 13.96 meters long and 7.87 meters wide.
ICING ON THE CAKE
But it didn’t end there. The shipyard announced, via the launch of a dedicated minisite, its new top-of-the-line catamaran, the Seventy 7 (77-foot), which will be launched in the fall of 2016. As yet, nothing is known except that Bruno Belmont (Beneteau’s director of sailing projects), designer Marc Van Peteghem (of the aforementioned VPLP firm) as naval architect, and Patrick Le Quément for the exterior lines are involved in the project.

In 1979 a shipyard was born that was destined to carve its name in the history of yachting: it was X-Yachts, of which the legendary X-79 became the standard-bearer. An excellent first design, signed Jeppesen, the small 7.9-meter would be
