The Salon International du Multicoque in La Grande Motte (April 19-23) will begin tomorrow. A now permanent fixture for European boating. The world’s most famous multihull show is now in its eighth edition this year, and it is proving increasingly capable of bringing together the world’s best manufacturers in this sector, which, as we have been repeating for some time now, is carving out an increasingly large share of the market. In fact, thanks to their qualities of stability, sailing comfort, and large spaces, catamarans are now no longer primarily targeted toward the charter market but are also “converting” an increasing number of private owners. Some sixty boats were on display this year, including three world premiere novelties that we want to introduce to you in more detail: the Neel 51, the Catana 53, and the Fountaine Pajot 47.
NEEL 51: THREE HULLS OF VAST SPACES
A fifteen-meter trimaran with distinctly eye-catching lines, thanks to hulls with slender, slightly inverted bows. Internally, a configuration has been designed to have the master cabin on the main deck (entering on the right): a truly spectacular suite with island bed and huge windows. Then on the same level, the kitchen and charting area also find space. Lung. 15.5 m; larg. 8.8 m; fish. 1.5 m. www.yachtsynergy.it.
CATANA 53: THE CARBON BOLIDE
This design, developed in-house by Catana shipyard designers, is constructed of carbon to allow for maximum lightness and structural rigidity. Equipped with two long drifts, capable of increasing the draft from 1.43 to 3.6 meters, the Catana 53 is designed to give excellent performance. Below deck are four cabins with owner’s quarters in the starboard hull. Lung. 16.15 m; wd. 8.5 m; fish. 1.43 to 3.6 m. www.catana.com.
FOUNTAIN PAJOT 47: THE POPPA-RELAXATION
The little beach of the new Fountain Pajot 47 goes down into the sea practically “sinking” into the water. This is definitely the first most striking feature of this new project by Berret – Racoupeau Yacht Design. Below deck versions with three cabins (Maestro) or five and as many bathrooms (Quintet). Lung. 13.94 m; wd. 7.7 m; fish. 1,3. www.fountainepajot.com

Jean Marie Finot: 10 Classic Boats to remember the master of France
Jean Marie Finot has left us, one of the greatest naval architects who ever designed a hull. A pioneer and signature of excellence, Finot was a true sculptor of boating, participating fully in making it as we know it today.

X-Yachts owners, unite: there’s a regatta just for you (even Classic!).
In 1979 a shipyard was born that was destined to carve its name in the history of yachting: it was X-Yachts, of which the legendary X-79 became the standard-bearer. An excellent first design, signed Jeppesen, the small 7.9-meter would be
