Italy Yacht 9.98 Club: or how to “train” a racehorse

About this craft, we have already written rivers of words. TheItalia 9.98 Fuoriserie is probably one of the most successful Italian boats of recent years, certainly one of the models that impressed us the most. A hull that was born in the Veneto-based Italia Yachts shipyard with a true racer’s spirit and has managed to have its value recognized on the race courses by winning the last two ORC world championships in its category in the last two years.
Today, the Italia 9.98 finds a new look to bewitch even those who feel like cruisers as well as racers: the big news is called the Italia Yacht 9.98 Club.

You look at her and realize that something has changed. Dual wheel steering replaces the typical racing tiller. An aggressive, slender dolphin pod extends its bow. Teak in the cockpit softens the design. Following the great success of Italia 9.98 Fuoriserie, Italia Yachts has reinterpreted the original design, making some changes to make sailing more comfortable. The result is a fast and fun boat, suitable for excelling in club racing or challenging comp races, but also perfect for cruising use.

The main changes include theadoption of a twin-wheel steering system and the addition of a large dolphin box at the bow to facilitate the use of gennakers and other furling sails without the use of a spinnaker, benefiting ease of handling at carrying gaits.

Inside, a full complement of broadside wall units furnish both the dinette and the forward area, increasing storage space. A refrigerator and a kitchen with an oven are also provided as standard.

Finally, you can embellish Italia 9.98 Club by choosing optional teak for the benches (removable) and cockpit top. Italia 9.98 Club is already in production and the first example will be launched in early 2017.
