He took to the water in Hyte, on the south coast of Great Britain, Galateia, the third Wallycento. A superyacht that concentrates the ultimate in cruising comfort and high performance racing innovation in one hull. “The Wallycento formula is a success, because these superyachts have proven to be very competitive, very technical, very fast in all conditions, and at the same time easy to drive,” says Luca Bassani, founder and president of Wally “with all these characteristics, the Wallycento reflect the highest technological expression in the world of super sailing yachts. The idea is to form a homogeneous and competitive fleet.” Magic Carpet 3 ‘s victory at the 2015 Giraglia (first in IRC ahead of all maxi racers) was a big boost: the Reichel Pugh Yacht Design studio was called back to the desk to develop a new Wallycento. “We developed this new hull from the in-water experience of Magia Carpet3 and the results of our latest studies in computational fluid dynamics,” explains Jim P ugh of Reichel Pugh Yacht Design.
Galateia ‘s brand-new hull is white, with a decidedly flush-deck, a huge cockpit capable of accommodating up to ten people, and a large aft sunbathing area in the center of which are the twin helm stations. Below decks Galateia offers luxurious and comfortable spaces, with the master suite forward, two double guest cabins, a large salon with all the equipment needed for navigation, the galley and engine room. In the bow there is then a large space dedicated to the calavele and anchor, while and aft is the garage for the tender.
For Galateia, once sea trials are over, it is planned to move to the Caribbean for the winter season, which will be divided between cruises and prestigious regattas, before returning to the Mediterranean in the spring. www.wally.com
