At the start of the TAG Heuer VELACup Summer Formenton Trophy. is just over a month away. Signing up for the most fun party of the summer, which takes place on Saturday, May 20, 2016 in Porto Rafael (Palau), Sardinia, is super easy. Just follow this link and in just a few clicks you will also be among the protagonists in the water.
But why is the TAG Heuer VELACup Summer an unmissable event? Here are 10 good reasons:
1.Because it is open to all kinds of boats, all sizes and shapes, no age restrictions, no red tape: no tonnage certificate required. Participating is super easy for everyone. Find out about all the categories in the regatta at this link.
2. Because the setting of the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Summer Formenton Trophy is a sailing paradise: the Maddalena Archipelago, where the buoys will be dream islands such as Barrettini, Spargiotto, Spargi, Porti Pollo, to name but a few. A slalom between unique wonders.
3.Because we expect more than a hundred boats to make a unique celebration on the water in full VELA Cup spirit. In May in Santa Margherita there were 206 boats at the start, from a 3-meter small dinghy to the Maxi Ourdream and more than 2,000 enthusiastic sailors, from a neoanto of a few months to a 90-year-old sailor. So it is mostly a big party.
4. Because everyone can participate. The most relaxed in “white sails”-without spi and gennaker-with a reserved ranking, the most fierce crews in the regatta category (with spi and gennaker) and ORC-certified boats, in addition to being automatically entered in the VELA Cup, will have the compensated time ranking of the Formenton Trophy dedicated to them. Download the announcement at this link.
5. Becauseafter the regatta there will be a big beach party with the islands of the archipelago and Corsica in the background.
6. Because if you don’t have your own boat you can rent one locally and “stick” a week or two of unforgettable cruising on it.
7. Because there are so many prizes up for grabs including the legendary Cerasarda plates handed out at the Formenton Trophy awards, numbered and each edition different. A true must-have collector’s item: for more than 25 years it has been and remains a special keepsake.
8. Because signing up is so easy. Simply fill out this online form, email info@trofeoformenton.it or arrive in Porto Rafael by 6 p.m. Aug. 19 and register directly on the spot.
9. Because even if you are not an experienced racer, the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Summer Formenton Trophy is a fun way to spend a different day of your vacation with your family.
10. Because this patch of sea need not terrify any sailor. Safety will be total with on-water assistance from our organization.
