When Hallberg Rassy announces a new boat there is always something to raise your antennae for, given that it is one of the world’s most iconic shipyards in the field of cruising boats designed for long sailing, and at Boot Dusseldorf expectations were not betrayed. The Swedish shipyard has unveiled the new Hallberg Rassy 40 C, a mid-cockpit boat in the 12-meter range that is set to introduce some interesting new features.
A boat that replaces a cult hit like the 40 MKII, but as always in the tradition of this shipyard the evolutions are thoughtful and do not upset what is the historical philosophy of these boats. Indeed, on the 40 C the aesthetic innovations already seen on the latest models are reintroduced: double rudder, almost straight bow with dolphin guard, and a hull that will also wink at performance. Having said that, the goal of the boat is to improve interior comfort with a series of small changes to the usability of the boat.
Space, therefore, for a larger center cockpit, almost as large as that of the 44′, and for the first time on this size come as many as six windows directly on the hull, one of them in the forward cabin, a first for Hallberg.
The kitchen is another major innovation. It is offered in classic or XXL size with a significantly larger boat work surface. Two solutions also for the master cabin, which is located aft: with island bed and sofa, or with classic double plus additional single bed. In any case, the proposed layout includes two cabins and one bathroom, confirming a boat designed for primarily owner use. Also new regarding the interior wood species for the woods, an oak option is also introduced, which until now has not been present on the Hallbergs.
