Summer has begun and the plastic hunters of the Medplastic Team are sending us so many photos of their “catches”!
Then again, it only takes a little: equip yourself with a net or half a sailor, and You also participate in the big “No Plastic” contest to save the Mediterranean Sea (it’s super easy, at the bottom you will find the rules). Here are who are the most active hunters these days:

PLASTIC HUNTERS OF THE WEEK

The “creativity” award goes to Marta Del Carlo and her partner Giacomo, who from Marina di Grosseto send us this work of art made from trash found on the beach!

Also very good was Tunny Fish, stage name of Carla Illuminati, who pulled aboard large inflatables in Procida:

Timothy Lucie-Smith, a former winner of last year’s contest, is an indefatigable plastic hunter with his net, these are just some of the shots he sent us from his cruise between Cilento and Sicily:

Big “catches” also for Second Star Sailing kids among styrofoam crates lost from fishing boats, inflatables and tangles of fishing nets:

Congratulations also to hunters Franco and Ugo Zammit, also sailing in southern Italy…

…And to Simon Mamo, especially for the “pose”!

And we’re just getting started, plastic hunters!

HOW THE NO PLASTIC CONTEST 2019 WORKS

  • You have from now until the end of September to take a photo (or record a video) every time you see, collect or prevent litter at sea.
  • Send it to the @giornaledellavela inbox on Instagram (or post it to the Medplastic Team Facebook group): remember to include where and when the photo was taken (or video shot) and to include the hashtags #medplastic and #savethemed.
  • The image and videos will be posted on the Sail Newspaper’s Instagram profile, and from the photos with the most “likes,” the GdV jury will choose the best three. The authors will be honored at the 2020 TAG Heuer VELAFestival!
