Walking around the docks of the Genoa Boat Show, it is impossible not to notice her. We observed it from above, from the elevated part of the Fair dock, then studied it from the stern and finally boarded it. There are many striking details about the new Vismara 69 Nacira, Project Verdier/De Beaufort, a boat that is definitely out of the chorus.
On our tour on board, we were guided by Nacira’s project manager Sebastiano Rech Morassutti, who first explained the genesis of the project: “the request comes from a couple of shipowners who in recent years have had unusual sailing and cruising experiences aboard boats such as the VOR 70 or Pendragon. Their idea was to make a boat that was first of all authentically fast and capable of sailing long distances. A major performance boat with an oceanic spirit. Hence some special requests, such as having a canting keel but at the same time it was also lifting to be able to enter bays or harbors where a shallow draft is required“.
In fact, the resulting aesthetics are reminiscent of oceanic opens: powerful volumes in the bow, a large and set-back maximum beam, and a multi-volume hull designed by the designers to be able to make the boat all round and fast in various conditions, as Morassutti points out: “The hull has a peculiarity: when the boat is little heeled or flat, the wetted surface is very small, the submerged part covers only the central volume (vaguely round n.d.r.) of the hull. The outermost part of the hull is flared, and is submerged when the wind picks up and the boat heels, providing important dynamic stability“.
