We had shown you previewing a “stolen” shot before its launch in Dubai (where the vessel, designed by Botin & Partners, was built by Premier Composite, a giant high-tech construction yard), and today, on the recommendation of our reader Claudio Marini, we rushed to photograph it at Genoa’s Porto Antico. The last doubts about the boat’s ownership were dispelled by its name, Cannonball, just like all the boats owned by Ferrari (Farr 40, Mini Maxi), 73, from Milan, founder of Intercos, one of the largest beauty multinationals in the world, with a turnover of about 420 million euros.
OUR EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS OF “CANNONBALL”

A SUPERBOAT.
This is a superboat, which promises to be, as its name implies, a real “cannonball”-a superboat designed with a clear objective, to beat everyone in sailing’s most cutting-edge circuit, the Maxi 72 circuit. Not least because Marcelino Botin, the great designer who revolutionized the world of Mini Maxis and TP52s, collaborated with a team of engineers who worked for Luna Rossa in the America’s Cup. Look at that deck, without any “step,” and what a low freeboard! The huge cockpit houses two very forward rudder wheels to concentrate weights to the center of the boat as much as possible, and four coffee grinders. The hull had been put up for sale, even before the launch, by Roberto Tomasini Grinover (the owner of the successful Robertissima series of boats). This is an innovative boat that breaks with current patterns, those that make TP 52 designs very similar to each other and of the Maxi 72s: look at that volume in the forward part, the inverted “rounded” bow and the very long bowsprit/dolphin integral with the hull that “hangs” downward.
TEAM OF CHAMPIONS
The team on board is expected to remain the same as that of Robertissima, with multi-titled Vasco Vascotto as skipper and “crew chief,” and sailors of the caliber of Daniele Cassinari, Cico Rapetti, Guillermo Parada and much of the crew of the TP52 Azzurra (of which Vascotto is tactician and skipper), Federico Michetti and so on. An Italian team on the world’s most advanced boat circuit. There will be fun to be had!
